Not heeding MUI Appeal, GNPF-MUI is fighting for What?

Themoderatemuslims.blogspot.co.id - The Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) said there was no need for demonstrations to reject the Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) on Community Number 2 of 2017. This was followed by a demonstration plan of the Alumni Presidium 212 group refusing the Perppu to regulate the existence of the newly-issued mass organizations Joko Widodo.

"If we are from the MUI there is no need for any demonstration, we just leave it to a reasonable process, in accordance with the law, there is no rule, there is no demo," said MUI Chairman KH Ma'ruf Amin when met at the Office of Presidential Staff, Jakarta, Thursday (7/27/2017).

Associated with Alumni 212 Presidium group that will hold a demo on Friday tomorrow by inviting Muslims, Ma'ruf appealed to all people not to participate.

"If MUI does not have to participate," he said.

According to him the Perppu on CSOs issued by President Jokowi addressing the dissolution of the HTI mass organization because it is considered contradictory to Pancasila is a legitimate and fair decision. So it asks for no political pressure from parties or groups [ok anywhere related to that.

"The government has the right to make the Perppu and later the Perppu will be tested by the House of Representatives (DPR), it is only procedural, there is no pressure from any party," he said.

He added that MUI supports the Government's stance to dissolve anti-Pancasila mass organizations such as Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI). Regarding the mechanism in the process of dissolving HTI he submitted to the government, which is important according to the rules of legislation.

"We submit to the government to take some kind of right policy in overcoming anti Pancasila, including by step through Perppu, if MUI principle of anti-Pancasila mass organizations should be dissolved," he said.
