Cleric of Central Java Declaration Reject 5-Day School Policy

They signed a declaration of revocation Permendikbud No. 23 of 2017 concerning Halaqah School Day event Ulema Central Java Branch Executive Office of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) Tegal, Monday (31/7).
In the text of the declaration signed on 31 July 2017, there are five points of attitude of the clerics of Central Java. They strongly reject the five-day school policy (LHS). They demanded Education Minister Muhadjir Effendi to cancel and revoke Permendikbud No. 23 of 2017 on LHS which caused social unrest.
They asked Mendikbud to listen to people's aspirations. The kiai also urged the minister not to enforce LHS policy. They suggested that Mendikbud concentrate on resolving crucial national education issues, formulating anti-radicalism curricula, anti-corruption, teacher professionalism, and other issues.

Mbah Bed said that with the enactment of Permendikbud LHS there are many madrasah diniyah (madin) in Central Java who lack students, even almost folded. Because, with school 8 hours a day, children can not follow religious education in madin.
"If madrasas diniyah already do not have pupils, this could mean a lot of children who can not read the Koran, do not know the procedure for purification, worship and Islamic teaching others. Because of all this we know and feel together, that people know About all that from madrasah diniyah, "he said.
Mbah Bed explained that his attitude in rejecting the LHS policy solely for fighting for the fate and existence of madrasah diniyah. If the madrasah diniyah out of business then the community will not know again the teachings of Islam that has been taught for so long the scholars.
"I myself know about wudlu, praying, reading the book, and the other of my teachers in Madin. Therefore, for the sake of my teachers in Madin, I firmly refused to school five days of school," he explained.
Tegal Regent Enthus Susmono said that since the five-day policy discourse, he became the first bupati to firmly reject him. "I am the first regent to refuse full day school, I do not agree with the policy, whatever the risks are," he said.
In Tegal district, Enthus has instructed the head of the education office to keep the school for 6 days so as not to kill the madrasah diniyah, the Quran education park (TPQ), and the boarding school.
