Jokowi Regime Love of Ulema and Islam, Only This Time There is Dzikir Event at the Palace
The Presidential Palace held a nationalism dhikr with the theme 'Welcoming the Favors of Independence', Tuesday (1/8/2017) night.
This dhikr event to welcome Indonesia's 72nd Independence Day.
Approximately 1,000 people from among scholars, students, and santriwati crowded the front yard of the Merdeka Palace.
The common zikr starts with the congregational Maghrib prayer, and continues with dinner.
At around 7:30 pm, President Joko Widodo and officials quit the Palace and joined the courtyard of the Palace.
Implementing Committee chief Mustofa Hakim appreciated Jokowi's move to allow the clerics to hold a dhikr at the Palace.
"This is the first time there is a dhikr event at the Palace" said Jokowi.
The same thing was conveyed by the Chairman of the Indonesian Ulama Council KH Ma'ruf Amin.
He thanked Jokowi for inviting the scholars.
"And this is indeed the first time and hopefully can be continued in every August to commemorate August 17 independence," he said.
In his speech, Jokowi thanked the scholars who had attended.
According to him, the scholars who came not only came from the island of Java, but all regions in Indonesia.
