Muhammadiyah: Al-Aqsa Conflict Not a Religion, but a Conflict Policy

Themoderatemuslims.blogspot.co.id - Muhammadiyah raises the voice of violence in Al Aqsa that caused the loss of life, both from Palestinians and Israelis. In addition, Muhammadiyah also reminded that the conflict in the sacred area is not a religious conflict, but politics.

"Despite its strongly diverse nuances, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not a religious and interfaith conflict, but rather a political conflict," said Muhammadiyah Central Executive Bahtiar Effendy, in a release received by CNNIndonesia.com on Tuesday (25/7).

Therefore, Bahtiar calls on Muslims in Indonesia to promote humanitarian solidarity and spiritual support for the struggle of the Palestinian people.

"In giving support to the struggle of the Palestinian people should put forward the actions of moral, spiritual, humanitarian and political solidarity by avoiding anarchistic action," he added.
Muhammadiyah, called Effendy, was deeply concerned and strongly condemned the violence that took away lives in Jerusalem. The organization, founded by Kyai Haji Ahmad Dahlan, also urged the international community such as the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Arab League to hold a special session to discuss the steps to solve violence in Palestine.

Meanwhile, to the conflicting parties, Muhammadiyah called for a ceasefire and to stop any confrontation.

"But, if it is deemed to have committed a violation and a peace agreement, the UN can sanction the Government of Israel," Bahtiar said.

On the other hand, Muhammadiyah also asks countries that have been interested in Middle East issues, such as the United States, Russia, Turkey, Iran, to take quick measures to prevent violence in Palestine from spreading to other regions.

"If the violence is not immediately stopped and resolved, we are worried that there will be insurgency and the possibility of terrorism and the rise of radicalism," Bahtiar said.

Then, Muhammadiyah also appealed to the Indonesian government to take initiative and diplomatic steps to solve the problem of Palestine comprehensively.

"The Indonesian government can revive the two-state solution as part of the Israeli-Palestinian peace roadmap," Bahtiar said.
